New Oil Drum Core Policy
July 17, 2019

The Lubricant Drum Core Deposit Program has remained unchanged over the past several years. The original intention of the program was to maximize usage of the same drum while maintaining the quality and cost of the product. However, a recent review advised that we no longer can maintain the two at the same time, hence the following changes.

1. The colour of all lubricant drums will change from the historical green-white-green to an updated grey-black-grey colour scheme.

2. We will begin the transition process to a coreless drum program. Under this new program, the historical $55 drum core charge will no longer exist.

Beausejour Co-op will no longer issue drum credits after September 30th, 2019. All drums that have had core charges paid need to be returned prior to this date.

We recognize the importance of providing customers with ways to dispose of unwanted oil drums in an environmentally friendly way and will continue with the drum collection and disposal program. Customers are welcome to keep the drums for personal use on farms or to scrap locally if environmentally friendly options are available. Metal scrap companies in your communities may be happy to scrap those drum cores.
